We've all seen those dreadful, oft-corny posters encouraging you to strive for the best. They plaster them around schools, offices, hospitals, and other places where a piece of glossy paper stained with ink might inspire a person to change themselves or the world for the better. I won't deny that posters and advertisements can change people, but is the word "determination" accompanied by a picture of somebody swimming in a pool really going to make you put down the Doritos and train for the Olympics? Seems a bit unrealistic to me, a hopeless shut-in. That said, the Something Awful Forum Goons, in their infinite pessimism, set out to make some motivational posters of their own, and I believe they got that whole realism angle down much better.
